The AI, Technology, and Illiberalism Initiative focuses on the ways that new and emerging technologies impact political trends and the lives of citizens. It is particularly interested in how artificial intelligence and other digital tools are used in the spread of illiberal ideologies as well as new visions and imaginings of the societies of tomorrow. This series also looks at the role of Big Tech and the development and deployment of novel technologies coupled with contestations over ideological neutrality in the context of growing rejection of liberalism and progressivism. In a similar vein, this series also examines the growing influence of technology and business leaders in government and the consequential shifting of priorities of political leaders.
