The Illiberal Forces on the Ballot Initiative explores how far-right and illiberal forces are gaining (or not) electoral support within their national context. Various combinations of history, political culture, institutions, and leadership can affect the success or failure of illiberal parties in gathering popular approval. Elections give us a real-time and unique snapshot of global public opinion and the state of democracy and (il)liberal values, and it is those dynamics, in all their complexity, that this series seeks to examine and catalog.
